CHALLENGE OF AFFORDING DATA BUNDLES IN UGANDA --Some Youths are Afraid!!

in #promo-steem6 years ago (edited)

This evening I was speaking to some people about steemit. They loved the idea of joining steemit. However, some feared because of the challenges of getting and buying data every day. Many of the youth can only afford social bundles which only work on watsap, twitter and facebook.

Buying data everyday is very expensive which an average youth cannot afford.
Here in Uganda, we use MTN, AIRTEL, SMART, AFRICEL networks. The internet bundles they give are really little and expensive.

In most cases, some places are still remote and internet in these places is very poor, slow and sometimes doesn't work. This is a serious challenge they told me.This then requires one to be connected daily on wireless Wi-fi so as to be on steemit daily.

As a stemian, I believe that one day as I keep growing on steemit, I will open up a hall or cafe just for all stemians who lack data to do steemit for free. Here I will provide free wi-fi from the steemit earnings. This will be done especially to newbies so that they can also grow and be able to provide for themselves data bundles.

For steemit to go to another level with consistency daily, one has to be able to afford internet and a personal device like a smart phone or computer.
Still many of the youths cannot afford since a good laptop like a Lenovo brand costs 1.2 Million Ugx. (333 USD) A second hand laptop would go for 500.000 ugx (133 USD) which can be a salary earning for some big person in the government.

STEEMIT is an opportunity to many Ugandans to develop themselves out of poverty line. If 10,000 people had access to free internet and smart phones or laptops, I believe steemit community in Uganda would explode.

The government of Uganda started an initiative of putting wireless network in the city of Kampala by Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) However, some people are still ignorant about it, only few are aware of it.

Today, I have become a voice as a steemit promoter in Uganda to those who cannot afford internet here, Get to the Ugandan tag and be a solution to the few stemians who are so far there. Let me tell you, the Ugandan Team is doing an amazing work. Check it out @jaraumoses @battebilly @yohan2on @jona12 @tesaganewton @shinejean @musamalijames @easydimes @jordanlove @ruthnatala and many more others. They are doing a great work of promoting steemit.

Right now, I believe that we the few stemians who are growing into a greater community will change the story of many Ugandans.

Thanks for supporting the Ugandan Tag.

Thanks Ben,,,but telcom companies are also discounting their data packages which I think is becoming cheap and easier to access internet.

Hope you get support to be able to set up a hub for the youths to Have access to Steemit. I'm sure if you keep trying it will come for you

That is very true sir @steem-ambassador. That's my vision and I am working on it.
