Hello wonderful steemians. It's your boy @donnest again. I bring you greetings from the Eastern Heartland of Nigeria. Owerri Imo State. History was written and made in IMO state Yesterday being the 17th of March. The highly talked about steem Mega meet up came into reality, it was a beautiful programme that you actually would never plan to miss in future. I like to use a word for it 'Awesome'. Take a bottle of water and go gently with me, you'll understand how it went down!!

One beautiful thing about meet ups is that, it serves as an avenue to decentralize the offline community. Imagine a situation where you get to meet alot of your friends and followers in a single setting, share memories and ideas with them. It's really a beautiful feeling, I still relish those memories

We had beautiful personalities that graced the occasion, steemians that have impacted a great deal to the Nigerian community. They were guest speakers and handled interesting areas of Steemit. The reality is that reading alone does not guarantee absolute impact on the brain, hearing is another leading vessel to the mind, heart and brain. So to that end, hearing and interacting did a beautiful magic on the lives of new and wonderful steemians yesterday

The master of the ceremony was the funny and lively @chrisdsteemsports. The audience were constantly entertained, he made sure everybody laughed and felt happy. Dude is a master presenter, do contact him for your occasions.

The keynote speech was delivered by the organizer of the meet up, in the person of @eurogee under the community of @euronation. I must say a big thank you to @eurogee and the team for pulling off such a mega meet up, indeed steemit was heard in the Eastern heartland. He talked about

The world of cryptocurrency is fast engulfing every part of the world, steem is going to take over the world in the shortest possible time, it is important that we build a platform where steem becomes the language of the nation, this could be achieved by conquering the political world.

Imagine a world where a steemian becomes the president of a country through millions of steemians. It's sure going to make a general and yet mass adoption of Steem and steemit as a medium of exchange by all citizens. It's a vision we all could achieve when we support our OWN in politics. Those were excerpts from his presentation.

Another presentation was done by @Tojukaka. He is such an amazing personality, that was so evident even in the way he delivered his presentation. I could say how a gentle man he was. @tojukaka talked about the

interconnection between steem cryptocurrency, steemit and the block chain technology.

This was an interesting aspect I enjoyed alot. The way he interrelated all these was simply amazing.

In his words, the Steem block chain is a ledger or record that houses every single data in the block chain. It’s like a reservoir. And like every other blockchain, it is transparent and decentralized.

Now have you imagined the relationship between all these? Steemit, steem and steem blockchain. The block chain provides a storage for everything in the network, steemit like every other social media platform serves as a means to access the block chain and then, steem rewards the users for being a part of the system. How amazing. This should answer why steemit needs a block chain and a currency.

He outlined various ways of safe guarding your keys, learn to back up your back up. What this means is that where ever your keys are saved, try and have a back up that will sure that you don’t loose them even when you loose that which you used in backing them up.

Also, if you notice that your account has been compromised, the first thing you should avoid is PANICKING
This is because more damage could be made when you panick and take the wrong move. Then ensure you change your keys.

Now @ehiboss was very calm and gentle in his words, you would take him as an introvert. But, my impression was conflicted when he came on stage with @mimy for the first outing of DeDrama’s club. He was something else, you could confuse him for a nollywood star. @mimy also showed class with her performance alongside other steemians who featured in the drama. It was amazing.

You would be wondering also why this is important, witnesses keep the block chain running. Now look at this salient points outlining roles and relevance of witnesses

1. They are expected to keep a block- producing steem node running at 24/7/365
2. Witnesses serve as role validating signatures and time stamping transactions by including them in blocks
3. They are an ongoing price feed of the value of steem token in US dollars
4. They set the minimum steem power deposit to create an account
5. They engage in administration of server
6. They set the APR% for the steem dollar interest rate

Witnesses are also rewarded for all these qualities, services and for running their nodes, by getting 1 steem for each block they produce.

it takes 3 seconds for a transfer made in steem block chain to be completed, where as other cryptocurrencies take much more longer time. also, the block chain makes it hard for the system to crash. Steem is among the fastest growing and durable digital money in the market

I enjoyed every bit of the meet up and even hoped that it didn't end. who would want it to end anyways. Hahaha. Owerri was lit yesterday. I also had the opportunity of meeting other wonderful steemians from different states of the federation. Here are some of them.
