Make that shift!

Some people don't mind you changing, as long as you change into who and what they want. At their core such people are selfish. They mask it as concern but the truth is they only care about how the change affects them and how they see you, and not whether it's good or bad for you.

People always rush to send messages and call you saying, "you've changed. You used to be so and so. I am so disappointed."
Some of these folks don't even know who you were, who you are or what you're becoming. They don't know you, only something they enjoyed or exploited about you. They're just not happy you're not what they used to like a lot.

Change anyway.

If a person is truly concerned about you, when you make changes, they'll ask why. They'll want to know what informed such a change. If their focus is just on what they expect or are comfortable with, then they don't have your interest at heart. They only want what suits them.

Be mindful of people in 2018, and in life as a whole, who are focused on making you conform to their vision of who you should be as a man, a woman, a teacher, a doctor, a single, a married person, a single parent etc.,
People will try to force you into moulds just so they can be happy.

you start charging for services, they say you've changed. You used to be less concerned about money.

You fix prices to ensure you make profit, they say you used to have more love for helping people.

You spend less time talking, they say "oh you used to be more friendly/social."

You say they can't visit, spend the night, no more sex till further notice, can't borrow any money or clothes, and you're told you've changed. You're now selfish and mean. They'll even tell others and embellish the story to make you like like Satan's cousin.

As long as you know your change is not a crime, does no harm and is ultimately for your good, go ahead and stick with it. Do not let anyone guilt, push and manipulate you into reverting to an old version of yourself that you know had to go. You have one life. Love it and live it.

Make changes.
They'll get over it and adjust...or not. In the end, honestly that's not your problem.

Make the shift anyway… because;

I learnt that someone can dislike you and still learn something from you. They know you have values and they like those values in which they're actually learning. There is a part of you they actually wish to be like, they can't just help it. You provoke them to be better, they know you are a genuine specialty.

Let me tell you this, it doesn't matter who does or not, what matters is that you have something worth learning. Always remember, they are watching closely…. So make that shift anyways!
