My name is Jacques and I'll be your guide, helping you to navigate the vast network that is the Steem blockchain.

Option number one is https://Steemit.com. Steemit.com is the oldest and the largest platform on the Steem blockchain. However, it may take a while for them to process your request, anywhere from one week to two months.

Option number two is https://anon.steem.network. This website is run by @someguy123. It promises full anonymity of your account since it does not require your email address. However, there is a fee anywhere from $15 to $27 for account creation.

Option number three is through another Steemian like yours truly. The Steemian would act as a trustee and can help you recover your password if you ever lost it.

Which ever one you choose, you will be presented with a master password. This is your code to enter the blockchain. Do not share this with anyone.

Once you have registered your account, you will be handed three keys that you can use to manage your account plus one for sending and receiving secret messages.

Key number One

Is your Posting key. With this key you can post, comment and vote on content. This key also allows you to follow other Steemians.

Key number Two

Is your Active key. With this key you can transfer Steem, increase or decrease your Steem power, and vote for who gets to maintain the Steem blockchain.

With your active key you can perform the same functions as the posting key, or change the posting key.

Key number Three

Is your Owner key. With this key you can perform all the same functions of the active key, or change the active or owner key.

Memo Key

Read and send secret messages.

Getting paid in the Steem Ecosystem is quite different than getting paid in the traditional internet system.

In the traditional system, you have to first amass a huge amount of followers in order to monetize the views you are getting to advertiser. This means, as a user, you must invest heavily into the platform for an extremely long period of time before seeing any returns.

In the Steem Ecosystem, you are rewarded immediately by the likes of your followers on Steem.

For every open content platform on the internet, you can find a similar one on the Steem blockchain.

Steepshot is the Steem equivalent of Instagram. It is also the easiest platform to use.
The web version is currently in alpha and is not recommended.

It's android application can be found here

Busy.org is a lot like Steemit, though most users prefer it to Steemit because of it's ascetics and user interface. It also have a notification system which Steemit lacks.

And for those who are interested in publishing video and audio content:

Dtube is a video service platform similar to Youtube.

Dlive is a live-streaming service platform similar to that of Twitch.

Dsound is an audio service platform similar to that of SoundCloud. Difference being Dsound offers its users the option to download the audio file for offline listening.

That covers most of the major platforms on the Steem blockchain. As you can see, Steem is a diverse place with something for everyone.

And when I say something for everyone, I mean everyone.
