As we promised in our tutorial of How to participate in the distribution system of the Milkbox Project, starting from Steem's?, today we are going to see the easy way to transfer our steem to our Bitshares wallet totally free, without paying any commission as it happens with services like Blocktrades.us. Additionally I will show you how to change or buy BTS to be able to change/buy any other crypto of the exchange.

The process is very simple, since you don't have to use any page outside of Steemit, just send the amount of steem you want to the official account @openledger-dex with the normal process you would do to any user within the platform, and you must include in the memo the name of your Bitshares wallet.

A few seconds later we will receive the transfer, we will appear with the name open.STEEM, is a digital asset backed 1:1 by real steem, withdrawn or deposited through the gateway provided by Openledger.

To change it to BTS click on the symbol below the "Trade" line to go to the market for that asset.

1. Let's click on the highest bid to buy at once.
2. Click on our steem balance if we want to sell it all.
3. We press the "Sell" button and confirm the transaction.

In a few seconds our transaction will be completed. If we look at the amount of BTS we choose and compare it with what we would have obtained using the Blocktrades.us service, we would see the following:

Using Openledger and changing in the market we would get 6.20846 BTS at the current market price, but with blocktrades it would have been 6.00004 BTS. It may not seem like much of a difference, but if we use larger quantities it would be much more significant.
