Has anyone ever beaten Google in impossible mode of tic tac toe?
Corey Cole wrote a tic-tac-toe game in 1975 that could not be beat. Players got bored quickly, so he introduced some intentional tactical flaws so players could win once in a while. Once someone beat the computer, they got hooked and would play it over and over.
His point? They haven’t mysteriously lost the art of creating a tic-tac-toe program that plays perfectly in the last forty years. If Google says the program is “impossible”, it surely is. They have a lot more than 128KB of memory to work with.
By the way, it isn’t that hard for a human to learn complete tic-tac-toe strategy. If you play the game properly, you may never beat the computer, but you will never lose to it either - every game will end in a draw.
