It's official now, the Eve programming language project is being shut down

As I've reported a month ago, things weren't looking good for Chris Granger's Eve programming language which was meant to make programming more visual and accessible for people, and now it's officially dead, the company making it is shutting down.

Chris Granger's prior project Light Table, which was an early Kickstarter success, thought to make programming easier, but the project ultimately failed because there were problems Chris wasn't able to solve, his ideas didn't plan out as he had hoped. Eve was the idea of solving these problems by not only making new programming tools but a new programming language specifically designed for these tools.

Eve went through many different iterations over the years, but none worked out well enough, and after a journey of about 6 years between Light Table and Eve, it seems like the funding has run out, or at least that is what is being hinted at in this announcement and the last. Chris says he's going to take a much needed break now but is sure he's not going to stay away from solving the problem (of making programming more accessible) for too long.

The Eve team did however release the new 0.4 version of Eve as open source together with the announcement of the shutdown, so that people can play around with it and maybe even continue the work.
