Go to your blog and there is a setting button on the right. You must upload a photo as a URL. I'm a newbie and only did this 20 minutes ago, but hopefully it works for you! :)
Did you have any luck finding out how to add friends in a profile pic. I'm new to steemit. Thanks in advance
