The art of looking for work

My first professional experience: The art of looking for work for the first time.

Recently, I have finished my student stage to try to start my professional life. However, this transition is not an easy one, as many of you have already seen despite the economic growth that is currently taking place in Spain. Not having enough experience to apply for positions, not being able to go abroad what you would have liked, not having the right languages for the position offered or simply not having adequate advice when looking for a job are determining factors in the above mentioned transition.

In my case, I have been trying hard to enter the labour market for a few months now. My language skills are good (native Spanish, English, French and Galician), I have a career and a master's degree and even though I have done several interviews, I still can't find anything to earn my bread this year. But what has cost me the most in this process?

Without a doubt, to assimilate that not everything depends on you, to have patience while waiting while you are a "nini" and above all without unemployment is the most complicated. If you add to this the desire and illusion to prove that you are worth and your eagerness to become independent of your parents, you can enter a cycle that is not convenient and can negatively affect you.

Luckily, this stage of awareness has already passed. Now I'm in that mental process where you think you're young, that you have a good foundation and that the important thing about this experience is what it can bring you. Therefore, every day that goes by I believe more in myself and I know that something good will come to me in the future.

Another aspect to emphasize is that I can't miss the opportunity to continue training while I am still looking for a job. I have improved my CV, adapted it to different formats and countries, learned graphic design and am currently learning from the online world.

As important as strengthening my personal brand and training is to have a network of contacts or as I like to say "networkear". In Spain, it is very common to get a job through this route, therefore the social network LinkedIn, going to congresses or similar is the order of the day. In addition, this can not only provide you with a professional contribution, but also personally.

On the other hand, the interviews I have done have been "satisfactory". Even if I didn't have access to the job I wanted, despite having thoroughly prepared them, they have been successful in the sense that they allow me to face the next ones with much greater security and this is worth gold.

In conclusion, as C. S. said. Lewis,"difficulties often prepare a normal person for an extraordinary destiny," so we can't stop thinking positively and believing that through sacrifice and effort everything will come.
