Received the BW.com L21 Scrypt ASIC recently.. Doing 586Mh/s @ 870watt!

in #productreview6 years ago (edited)

As planned, i am documenting my L21 adventures mining Scrypt with the BW.com L21 miner acquired from their ONLY international distributor Hyperbit.

It's a sturdy and decent unit, plug and play. Controller is inbuilt, so you only have to connect to power and internet, browse to the IP.. Setup pools and you are set. No drivers to be installed or anything, it's a self contained unit.

Only for FW upgrades you need to connect to PC, but there are no downloads yet.
It is however one of the loudest Scrypt units i owned with 70-80Db noise.. I had to dampen it a bit with DIY supplies. I still hear it, but i can sleep through it, watch television and without complaining neighbors. It does seem to have a slight coil whine though at times, making it worse to be near it for too long.

It currently is mining BCC @ 586Mh/s, but all pools work that i tested. I have seen different with some miners.
Do note: it has problems with some passwords.. It needs more than 1 character, so pools that only accept "x" are not working at the moment.
Also, you can only setup 2 backup pools but you can't manually switch them yet.

Some text and errors aren't translated yet and are still in Chinese. Especially in the debug window.
So: if you can't get it to mine.. Copy the Chinese error to Google Translate to find out the cause!

Speed on the pools differ, average it's about 560 Mh/s, but it depends on pool. What works best is fixing the difficulty to above Antminer L3+ levels (d=131072). I have set d=149760 (585Mh/s) set on a pool and see almost no rejected shares.
