Stay motivated by using To-Do Lists

in #productivity3 years ago (edited)

Have you ever wondered how efficient people can stay motivated during an entire day, completing task after task and getting their work done when you haven‘t even started yet? An easy habit to get used to in order to get closer to that level of productivity is integrating To-Do Lists into everyday life. And this isn‘t as difficult and time-consuming as you might think.

But first of all - Which apps can be used to track tasks? Although many applications bring useful features with them, when it comes to To-Do lists, I would recommend using one specially designed for that purpose. One of the best examples is Wunderlist. Its cross-platform availability makes it easy to access from any device and the huge variety of features when it comes to organizing a ton of tasks is what I found really useful in everyday usage. All that combined in an easy to use user interface, makes it in my opinion the best choice for everyone still looking for a great app concerning To-Do lists. However, if you already use an application with such functions built-in (for example Evernote or Notion) that‘s fine too. You just have to make sure, you‘re able to take notes and add new tasks at any time you want.

The second step is integrating them into daily usage so that you will add/delete and complete tasks just like checking emails, texting friends or setting a timer. The first couple of days you‘ll probably still have to remind yourself of entering every single idea/task/note into the app but after a short period of time, it will become a habit. The next step is to order your tasks, maybe give them sub-tasks, and assign them to specific days (and maybe even specific times). At the end of each day, you take a little bit of time in order to structure and manage the tasks for the next day. Also, write down subsidiary things like pursuing a certain hobby. I usually have around 6-8 tasks for every single day so that I don‘t get stressed but also not bored.

When fulfilling those tasks the next day, try to do the demanding and difficult ones at first so that you don‘t feel uncomfortable about them anymore and therefore keep motivated for a longer period of time. Take breaks regularly and drink enough water so that you don‘t lose focus and do everything in an accurate way.

And that‘s it! This is how easy it really is to get productive and keep motivated during an entire day. If you don‘t reach every goal or fulfill every task, that‘s not a bad thing! It‘s totally usual that specific work takes longer or makes you feel exhausted. But not accomplishing every aim is way better than not accomplishing any.

I hope you enjoyed reading my article and could learn something from it.
