Big Brother in the Bedroom!steemCreated with Sketch.

I got into a fight with my wife, as she wants to put a telescreen in our bedroom and I am heavily against that.

We have a TV in our living room, but it's an older model without cameras. Now one of her friends was really suggesting to her to buy a new Smart TV because it's so cool and it has direct feed to some serials that she can watch there that she has been following. Basically we have an extended TV package where she watches her stupid serials, but one of her friends told her that it's easier through a Smart TV that has direct feed to it, you know you can watch it later and so on, plus internet connected to it.

Now I am really against all kinds of Smart devices. Now let's be honest here, a Smart TV is a Telescreen from 1984 where the Government and Ad companies will spy on you 24/7. That is provable, you can't even deny it, it's in their privacy policy.

Big Brother is watching for thought-crimes! I am not joking it has literally became like that. Orwell was a prophet not a fiction writer.

I don't know what the hell is with women, and I have to hold women accountable here, since it's almost as it women have a natural tendency to fall prey to tech deception. Let's be frank here, it's well known in marketing circles that about 80% of ads are targeted towards women, because they are easier to fool with shiny gadgets.

And don't get me wrong my wife is an intelligent self-respecting woman, she can be reasoned with and we can have deep talks about politics and things like that, most of the time. But when she is with her friends, it's like she loses her brains.

It must be this "feminist pressure", losing the sense of rationality under peer pressure. I don't know.

I mean she literally said that I am a paranoid freak for not wanting to put a Telescreen in our bedroom, when there are hundreds of cases of surveillance done through them:

It's not a fucking conspiracy theory. It's a provable fact, even their privacy policy admits it. Big Brother is watching. Plus any sophisticated hacker can hack it too, so they can be spying as well, doesn’t have to be the Thought Police.

So I don’t know I was showing my wife hard evidence against Smart TV’s, and why it would be a horrible idea to buy one, and she is a rational person, but for some reason she didn’t believed me.

She thought I was a paranoid freak for showing her provable hardcore evidence that these devices are surveillance devices, when in other cases she believed me, for some reason this time she didn’t probably because her friends pressured her.

It’s like my wife is having a doublethink experience, she knows full well the extend of surveillance in society, but for some reason she didn’t believed me this time. Maybe she was trying to be ignorantly optimistic and hope that it won’t happen to her, but facts show otherwise. I just want to protect her from creeps.

So I don’t want Big Brother in our bedroom, period. You know orgasm is a thought-crime in 1984, only artificial insemination is allowed. Only God knows how many thought crimes we commit in our bedroom, and I certainly don’t want the Thought Police watching.

Doubleplus badful, maybe I am just a thought-criminal working for Emmanuel Goldstein that can’t appreciate the love of Big Brother and that of the Ministry of Love.

Yeah I kind of always felt like nothing can be really trusted. Trust is a precious and scarce commodity these days.

So it doesn't surprize me that almost all manufacturers put backdoors in their products, it's just the default policy.
