Chinese prisons are to weird to just slap a number on. They range from luxorious hotels for party members to rummors of charging family members for the bullet after executions.

The one that surprises me is South Africa, wouldn't have thought they'd spend so much on prisoners. Of course I think this includes logistics, guards etc. I looked my country Honduras up, all I could find is they spend about $0.60 a day for food on prisoners, so I guess these guys must go hungry most of the time.
I never get why the prisons are mostly in the same country. We could just outsource it to some 3rd world country, have our prisoners taken care of by western standards and contribute to the local economy. It would be dramatically cheaper.
