Aladdin in reality
In an old Arab tale, a commoner and a thief Aladdin wins the heart of the Sultan's daughter. And, although in this case he helps the Almighty Genie, the poor young man eventually receives honor, respect and the right to be the husband of an Arab Princess. This story is so like the inhabitants of the East, that the plot made it absolutely impossible possible.
But the Eastern reality is much worse. There such "love not on rank" can turn into trouble not only for the commoner who dared to dream of the girl of Royal blood, but also for the Princess.
Abdul-Aziz Ibn Abdurrahman Ibn Faisal al Saud, or simply Ibn Saud, the founder of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, left behind not only the power, but also extensive offspring: some sons from legitimate wives he had 45. The sixth son of the founder of the Kingdom was Mohammed bin Abdulaziz al Saud. In the 1960s, he was considered the crown Prince, but was forced to cede the throne to his younger brother Khalid.
Throughout his life Abu Sarian remained one of the most influential people in the Royal family. Mohammed, who was considered the richest of the members of the Royal family of Saudi Arabia, put a lot of effort to continue the family (with the joint efforts of the sons and grandchildren of Ibn Saud, the current ruling family has up to 7000 Emir princes). In 1958, Mohammed had a granddaughter named Mishaal.
Princess Mishaal bint Fahd bin Mohammed al Saud was a true Oriental beauty and a favorite of the family. Her uncle king Khalid loved her very much. Grew up a Princess, not knowing anything of failure. But to dispose of her future she could not because it was a foregone conclusion. Her parents were going to marry her off to one of a great many Prince cousins.
Thanks to oil, the Royal family of Saudi Arabia has become fabulously rich. Along with the dollars came and various Western trends that members of the Royal family brought from numerous trips. And when Mishaal said that he wants to get a higher education, did not contradict her. Since there was no such education for women in Saudi Arabia in the 1970s, the Princess was sent to study in Lebanon. Of course, under strict supervision and with a large staff of servants and guards.
Lebanon is a multi-religious country and, in comparison with Saudi Arabia, much more free from various restrictions. From the free air at Mishaal dizzy, and happened to her what usually happens to girls in 19 years: the Princess fell in love. The handsome East called Khaled al-Shaer, Mulhall, and he was the son of the Saudi Ambassador in Lebanon. Actually, because of the father-the diplomat and Khaled were among those who could be near the Princess.
This novel did not have a chance at happiness. In Russia, the "son of an Ambassador" is almost synonymous with the word "major". And in the realities of Saudi Arabia Khaled remained a commoner who could not even dream of marrying a girl from the Royal family. Under Saudi Arabian Sharia-based laws, extramarital sex could be punishable by death. However, there are serious reasons to doubt that Mishaal and Khaled went so far. Perhaps it was limited to hugs and shy kisses. However, the fact that the Princess was alone with a man who was not related to her was already an act of folly.
Mishaal came to Lebanon with a large retinue. Of course, some of the servants knew what was going on. Most kept their mouths shut, but still there was a man who, after returning to Saudi Arabia, reported the Princess and her lover.
When the girl was accused of adultery, she realized that her life is falling apart, and decided on a desperate act. She went to Jeddah, a city on the Red sea, where, according to Muslim tradition, eve's grave is located. On the seafront Mishaal left his clothes, hoping that it deems drowned. Dressed in a man's suit, the Princess went to the airport, hoping for false documents to leave the country forever. But at Jeddah airport, she was identified and detained.
According to the laws, the charge of adultery must be confirmed by at least four witnesses. In the case of Princess Mishaal, none could be found even theoretically. But the confession of guilt by the accused is also considered evidence. Mishaal admitted that adultery was. Why she did this is unknown. Perhaps the girl was forced into this, and maybe this was a sort of gesture of protest against rules and regulations that she didn't want to put up with.
Death sentence Khaled al-Seru Mojallali approved without hesitation, but what about the Princess the consensus was not. Even king Khalid thought there were no extremes. But grandfather Abu Sarian insisted on the death penalty granddaughters.
On July 15, 1977, Mishaal and Khaled were taken to the Central square after the noon prayer. Supervised the execution of he Mohammed bin Abdul Aziz al Saud.
As a member of the Royal family, the Princess avoided being stoned. She was blindfolded, put on her knees and shot in the head. Khaled was forced to watch his love die. Then it was his turn. The commoner was waiting for the most common execution in Saudi Arabia: beheading. But also this punishment has nuances. Usually the sentence leads the professional executioner, who delivers the offender from unnecessary anguish. But, if the condemned very much annoy the powers that be, the Amateur can charge execution of a sentence. Abu Sarian did with Khaled.
After the execution of Princess Mishaal, restrictions on women in Saudi Arabia were tightened, Saying that Mohammed bin Abdulaziz al Saud never regretted what he did to his granddaughter. He claimed that he did not need proof of adultery; it was enough that Mishaal was in the same room with a strange man.
