Mountain House is actually really good stuff. I've found the more cost effective and sustainable food storage approach is gardening and canning. Then, of course, seed saving. Keep it up, I've been intrigued by your experiment.

    It is good as emergency foods go. Canning I'm sure saves money, but gardening requires a space to garden. However...there is a lot of cheap rural land that can be converted to gardening.
