Bittrex doing facial recognition???

I figured I would test moving SBD to Bittrex, then back to Steemit...because I am here primarily to learn about cryptos.

I had opened the account on Bittrex months ago, and had already tested transferring BTC from coinbase to bittrex, then buying steem from there via blocktrades. That worked fine, back in about August.

Over the last week I tested moving SBD to bittrex, just baby amounts. I wanted to test moving it there, and then either moving it back to steemit, or buying BTC with it.

Today I tried to move it back to steemit, and they asked me to verify the account (which I had already done months ago). So I entered my address, DOB and all that again...they said they couldn't verify the info, which is BS because anyone can verify with name, DOB and the last 4 of SS...so THEN they wanted me to take a current selfie for enhanced verification...

I will loose 0.6 SBD, but I will NOT join the facial recognition movement. I don't have a passport, or drivers licence...and I have an old photo ID from MA that is so old there is no expiration date (which means it has to be accepted legally) They have no photos of me in the database, since about 1980, before they were really saving them.
I have never put my face on facebook, twitter, or anywhere online. There are multiple reasons for this, but privacy is one of the main.

My end feeling on the matter? I will find another way or give my SBD to others at some point in the future...it is not worth undoing years of fighting the facial recognition bandwagon...and I am sure there are other exchanges who are not asking for selfies...

So directly through blocktrades we can send BTC to coinbase or cex.io exchange.

😨 Good thing you only moved a bit of crypto! It kind of feels like this removal of privacy movement is slowly, but surely forcing its way along. At some point we'll probably reach a point where you can't escape it short of going underground. I'm afraid it's already too late for me, passport and drivers licence. I can't even post abroad without photo ID and my family lives at the other side of the world! I hate that every little thing when it comes to money demands you to jump through so many hoops. It's incredibly uncomfortable, like being asked to strip in public and hoping you don't get raped!

I was just doing a test thankfully...but next time a have 2.0 in SBD I am going to try it through Blocktrades.

That's the thing! Everyone with a driver's licence or passport had No Choice. Their photos were just entered into facial recognition profiles without their consent. Same with most social media, fb being the first and worst. It's crazy, and there is no outcry...no mass exodus. Most people don't realize it, and those that do seem defeated. It is like that feeling when someone steals something valuable, but you know you will never get it back...or your analogy of stripping in public. It is just not okay.

Whoa, unreal how things are slippery slopes
sliding down the great wheel, perhaps the
upturn will be cleaner :-) ^deep time thoughts^
Nope I don't like this checking every core pussel
when going anywhere crapola. Then sometimes
have the thoughts this is all for some giant time
capsule. But really it's just greedy farmers tagging
their herd when it comes right down to it.

Yep, exactly...I choose to stay on the other side of the fence ;) Me and my gummy bear army, haha (no details because they are probably watching :O)

Really though, it is a slippery slope, and they make it harder and harder to function in the world without conforming. Hopefully we will be able to stay off the radar, at least for this...or I will sure keep trying. It would take everyone refusing to give selfies for it to really work though. Most people just do what they are told unfortunately, or believe it is for their own safety.

I don't understand why they would need a picture of you? I know the other information is for tax purposes (or so they claim), but how on earth do they justify having a picture on file?

Right...and they say Not to send your current ID or Passport photo...but a new unaltered selfie. There is only one reason for that that I know of.

Please enlighten me - I'm very new to all of this and used to be a lot more sheepish. I think I'm currently more of a goat, trying in every way to jump that fence!
