5. Problems in Pregnancy : Feel good within yourself

in #pregnancy7 years ago

Feeling good when you are pregnant can be the most simple, or the hardest thing in the world!

Each woman creates, grows and carries a baby (or two, or three and so on) in their tummy for 40 whole weeks! Now this may sound quite simple, however this can be far from the truth for some women. So the importance of making this journey the best it can be for yourself is vital!

For those who do experience the ‘I’m so ugly’ feeling throughout their pregnancy, there are ways to pick yourself up and walk with your head held high, even when you are carrying a little human inside of you!

1. Find your smile ..

Pregnancy is tiring, it can be hard and draining, but we all know we have a smile hiding in there somewhere. A smile that people remember when you are feeling ontop of the world – or even just your normal daily smile. Just because we are creating a little bundle in our bellies, feeling all heavy and lifeless, this gives us no reason to plod around.
Embrace your bump and remember, there is light at the end of the tunnel- sooner than you think. So when you wake up in the morning, take a look in the mirror and give your best smile as though you are meeting your little one for the first time.

See! It’s there and boy it’s beautiful, so get on with more smile practising and show the world how great it feels to be pregnant!

2. Find some ‘Me’ time ..

When was the last time you treated yourself to a bit of pampering. I don’t particularly mean face masks and nails, I mean anything you enjoy doing. That could be sitting in silence with a hot drink and biscuits, baking a cake, reading a book, a stroll to the park, a yoga class or even a little shopping trip – spoiling yourself! Whatever you do in your pregnancy, don’t forget to have some ‘Me’ time – it is very important, keeping you happy, uplifted and in a positive mood. After all, if this is your first baby, it won’t be long until you have to fight for ‘Me’ time haha! So take full advantage now!

3. Find your supporters ..

Having someone there for you when you are pregnant is so important! You won’t realise this prior to being pregnant, but once you start experiencing new feelings emotions and experiences, you will gradually realise how significant it is to have at least one person by your side every step of the way. For most women, they have a Partner, Husband or Wife to confide in when going through this magical journey, however some women are doing this alone for whatever the reason may be. You may have a best friend, Mother, Father, Sister, Brother, Cousin for you to reach out to, who will want to be there for you without you realising and will be happy to share such life changing moments with you. From a little chat, to attending a check up appointment, whatever you do, try and bring someone along with you – even if it’s for a second pair of ears, because if you’re anything like me, you forget the important bits within seconds! Don’t let yourself feel alone, there is always someone there who wants to support you and listen to all you have to say (which will be a lot!)

4. Find your Style ..

Now we all know as women, at the best of times, it’s hard to find something to wear straight away, whether that be to go out for dinner, shopping, or just a walk in the park. So imagine the struggle when you are pregnant! No one wants to go out the house looking like crap if they can help it right?

But believe it or not, sometimes the most simple and comfortable outfit can make you look glam when you are pregnant! I say less effort is more naturally beautiful! Throughout my pregnancy, it was mainly summer/autumn so I tended to wear a lot of maxi dresses, bodycon dresses (but not too tight), jumper dresses, tops and leggings and even tracksuits (or loungewear in the house). I do love fashion, but when it came to my pregnancy, I very quickly realised that fashion had to take a slight back seat, as it was much more comfortable to stick to the more simple, plain outfits.

Me on Holiday at 26 Weeks pregnant

I hardly bought any maternity wear, as I was very lucky to carry my bump well and didn’t seem to expand much until I was past half way through my pregnancy. Leggings stretch, long tops stretch, and most jeans can be worn under your bump (or just undo the top button haha!) so I wouldn’t go breaking the bank for those expensive maternity clothes when you could actually check out your existing wardrobe first!

Me at 30 Weeks pregnant

Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying every woman has to dress up like Kim K each time they step out the door – for some women, they’re just simply not bothered, which is also completely fine! But you will probably find that comfort will come before looking 10/10 when you’re pregnant!

5. Find an Online Forum

We all have 1001 questions when pregnant, that we don’t always have chance to write down when we go for meetings or check ups with our Midwives. However we do have access to online forums where there are thousands of other women in our exact position.
If you are ever unsure about anything, or even need just a little pick-me-up, they only take a few mins to create an account and there you have it, your very own little team of helpers, who have been through the same as you!

Another great post. Thanks for sharing your pregnancy photos. I'm sure other Mums to be will enjoy this.

Love the heading Go and Glow.

It is indeed wonderful to be a mother, radiate happiness, you are full of enthusiasm and, to recognize, it is wonderful to be protected and see how everyone cares to be well. We make plans for the future and take care to eat healthy to give our child the vitamins and minerals needed to grow. We look for information on forums, talk to other friends, we have a busy life both before and after birth. Mothers already know that :)
