What makes a fairytale?

A fairytale is usually a story that involves magic and unorthodox characters, it is often misunderstood as a children's book but it has morals and many dark meanings. A fairytale usually has characters that have powers and contain magical content throughout the story. They have a problem in the form of some obstacle and by the end that problem is solved and the characters live happily ever after.
