SBS Gayo Daejun 2017

The 2017 SBS Gayo Daejun took place on December 25, and as always was the event that kicks off this year’s year-end ceremonies. The MCs for the night were IU (love her so much) and Yoo Hee Yeol. Many stars showed up and gave amazing performances such as BTS, EXO, GOT7, Red Velvet, TWICE, Blackpink, Wanna One, etc.

However, it would obviously be hard to move on with celebrations when Shinee's Jonghyun passed away so recently. Many schedules had to be changed and SM artists along with other close friends of Jonghyun had small ways of remembering him. All SM artists were wearing bands with 'R.I.P JH' written on them. A small video was also played as a memorial to Jonghyun. Also, IU and Yoo Hee Yeol performed “My Love By My Side” by the late Kim Hyun Sik, reportedly for Jonghyun. It makes sense as IU was very close with him and attended his funeral too.

It's evident that many stars were deeply affected by his death. Yeri from Red Velvet was quite close with him and looked noticeably sad and quiet throughout the event. About a week ago, it was confirmed that Nayeon and Dahyun from TWICE would be collaborating with Irene and Seulgi. However, it was too difficult for them after Jonghyun's death, and so two other members from TWICE took their place.

In other new, Taemin from Shinee was supposed to put on solo performances for KBS Song Festival, but now will no longer be attending the show.
