Townsville's Most Epic Rivalry

This screenshot motivational poster is dedicated to all of my Blossom and Princess Morbucks-loving friends, fellow artists, fans, and brethren. Sit back, relax, and revel in how Blossom's and Princess's epic rivalry has cemented a special place in my heart.

Move over, Xena and Callisto. Abdicate your thrones, Elizabeth I and Mary Stuart. Get ready to retire, Anna Espinosa and Sydney Bristow. Find another job, Nina Williams and Anna Williams. Because Blossom and Princess Morbucks are in the house to stir up a whole lot of action through the power of their fists and feminine fury.

Two fiery redheads. One who is an eloquent, diplomatic, intellectual, and graceful strawberry blonde-haired young lady who does her best to be a great role model to everyone around her from her family to her friends. The other is a bossy, demanding, ruthless, and selfish auburn-haired young diva who always loved having things her way. Both of them would have constant clashes to the death, as their capabilities as combatants come into full force. All of Townsville have been bearing witness to how often these girls have been clashing, especially where Blossom's teammates and family members Brick, Butch, Boomer, Buttercup, and Bubbles were concerned.

My friends, ever since I first tuned in to "Stuck Up, Up, and Away" when I was a seven-year-old boy, Blossom's epic throw-down with Princess Morbucks was the absolute highlight of the episode, as it perfectly demonstrated Blossom's untainted concentration in battle and her overall conscientiousness of her foes' strengths and weaknesses. Henceforth, she became my most favorite of the Utonium sisters. Furthermore, the fight choreography displayed between Blossom and Princess was something phenomenal to behold, given that Craig McCracken was a fan of anime such as Dragonball Z. This even got to the point where I definitely enjoyed Blossom's and Princess's chemistry as rivals not only because it was fun seeing a couple of redheads duke it out with each other, but also because of what both of them represent as foes.

Blossom's and Princess's rivalry ran really deeply ever since they were little girls. While Princess had the looks, money, and the resources, Blossom had intelligence, grace, diplomacy, and a good amount of compassion, especially demonstrated when she became a lot more attentive to Butch and his personal problems with always being Brick's lapdog and his most favorite brother in the whole world, thus encouraging him to stand up for himself a lot more. Ergo, Blossom was the finest model student Pokey Oaks has ever witnessed, a loving oldest daughter to Professor Utonium, a responsible "older sister" to Buttercup, Bubbles, Bunny, Bell, Ken, Sam, and Kasey, and a most reliable Team Xtreme member as the brains of this six-person superhero group, thus making her someone everyone in her circle younger or older than her look up to Blossom. Blossom's status as "Ms. Perfect" was what really sparked Princess's relentless jealousy of her. This is essentially the classic case of a Straight-A honor student like Blossom having a rivalry with the school popular girl like Princess Morbucks, thus making this a battle of wits, status, and how brains and popularity constantly strive for a certain amount of power and recognition.

Princess thought it was not fair that someone as pretty, smart, and athletic such as Blossom would hog the spotlight and "steal" her popularity. Being five months younger than Blossom, Princess did also begrudgingly look up to her because of her amazing powers such as her ice-related abilities, how stylish she was, and how absolutely elegant and eloquent she was, especially when it came to talking to boys, given that Blossom had many admirers though there were two boys who did show the most admiration. In a way, Blossom was like the older sister Princess always wanted to have because she herself was an only child and she had no other siblings to call her own. It also helped that Blossom did her best to explain why Princess was not cut out to be a Team Xtreme member as the only sane woman where Brick showed mild annoyance and could not stomach Princess's nagging for another millisecond, Butch and Buttercup were severely annoyed with her, Boomer did his best tolerate her, and Bubbles attempted to find the best in Princess. However, when talk was cheap, thanks to Princess acquiring a more souped-up battle suit and thrashing the rest of her teammates even Brick the fearless leader, Blossom decided that enough was enough and gave Princess the pummeling she deserved with Buttercup giving a good punch, Bubbles kicking her up the air, Boomer shocking her on the head, Butch literally kicking her butt, Brick unleashing his fire breath to scare Princess, and Blossom delivering the final ice breath blow to totally disintegrate Princess's armor. Finally, Blossom then had the gumption to state that Princess was never fit to be a Team Xtreme member because of her brattiness, selfishness, and lust for power and not using her abilities to help people and the world they all live in.

In terms of Blossom's and Princess's relationship, I never shipped them romantically not only because they did not seem at all compatible with each other, but it is also in accordance to my headcanon centering around these two, as Blossom is straight, given that she has a nice yet competitive friendship with Brick, Butch once had a huge, huge crush on her when he was a little boy, and that Boomer and Blossom are extremely happy and blessed to be in a long-lasting, stable relationship and vice-versa, and Princess is bisexual though with a preference towards men, as she has Jack Spicer to call the man of her dreams. Ergo, their relationship is extremely platonic and quite akin to bickering siblings with Blossom being the Sesshoumaru, Nina Williams, and Karl von Moor to Princess's Inuyasha, Anna Williams, and Franz von Moor.

Now, I bet you are all wondering, why on earth do I see more of a bickering sibling dynamic with Blossom acting as the classy yet fierce older sister figure to Princess's brash and bratty younger sister? One has to consider their age difference, as Blossom was born on September 1, 1992 and Princess was born on February 15, 1993. Five months apart may not be a huge gap, but this also displays how much different they are in terms of how they were brought up with Blossom being the first eldest in her family complete with stable role models in the forms of her father Professor Utonium and her mother Mrs. Keane-Utonium and Princess being an only child but without any stable role models in her life her father notwithstanding. On top of that, before "Stuck Up, Up, and Away" concluded, Blossom even called Princess "little girl" not only asserting her dominance as the eldest Utonium sister but also showing that the former had far more experience as a heroine than the latter, thus setting an example of how true heroines should be. Furthermore, Blossom is someone who does her best to be a proper role model, even with the flaws she has, while Princess would just demand that things be done her way or no way at all, thus leading Blossom to give Princess a stern lecture on selflessness and understanding. Even when Princess hurls insults towards Blossom, the latter would always make sure that she does not end up stooping to her rival's levels, as she knows better than that. This shows that Blossom's composure and discipline can overcome any of Princess's baseless and empty taunts.

In terms of the possibility of a love triangle, there would be none revolving around Blossom and Princess. Sure, Brick may have been a popular choice, but he was more than happy to call Buttercup his ultimate dream girl and the one he chose to spend the rest of his life with, thus getting Blossom's approval as his good friend and competitive comrade and initially getting the ire of Princess at least when she was a little girl. Butch did have a major crush on Blossom when he was young, especially considering how he was fawning over her when she was kicking Princess's butt as well as many other foes' butts, and she did show a lot of compassion for him, but it was nothing more than a silly first crush all while Princess did not reciprocate how crassly Butch was acting towards her, despite her admiring him for his super strength. As for Boomer, he was someone much too devoted and much too genuine to Blossom to ever be unfaithful towards her because it would be really stupid of him if started an affair with Princess. After all, Princess was begrudgingly supportive of Boomer and Blossom ending up together.

Even after Blossom was happily married to Boomer and Princess was happily married to Jack Spicer, both women still ended up having their scuffles against each other. At least, it was not as visceral as when they were younger, as they were able to show a bit more restraint as grown-ups, even though few things will ever change.

Overall, Blossom's and Princess's rivalry stood the test of time as to how visceral these girls can get when pitted against each other. With their opposite personalities and their bickering sister dynamic, these girls will fight tooth-and-nail against each other, despite showing more restraint as adults.

I hope you enjoyed this and I will see you in the next submission. Take care and stay safe, everybody.
