What are the risks associated with buying ICO tokens such as Power Ledger? Do I risk anything else other than losing my initial investment?
You risk nothing other than your initial investment. ICOs are unregulated at the moment other than few countries.
I haven’t read Power Ledgers whitepaper yet but just had a random go through on their website and found some interesting stuff.
It’s a very limited use case project. If I can’t use their tokens for the purpose it is created then why should I invest? Just to hodl? I can’t do that with other great coins.
Power Ledger seems to be working on similar kind of model that Storj is using (in terms of an idea and not technology, technicality etc) i.e;
Storj: Sell your Extra Hard Drive Storage space
PowerLedger: Sell your Surplus Solar Power
Now some questions:
How many of us are using Solar Power?
Do I have to be physically available to use Power Ledger Platform?
What if I am in Asia, Africa, North America? What does it offer me?
As I said, it’s a very limited-use-case project and seems very much unrealistic or feasible for it to go beyond a certain specified area. I would not risk to tie-up my capital, if not lose.
