A Single Seed: Problems Are Meant to be Shared

We've all felt the pain of pain bottled up. Whether it be relationship issues, business problems, or just life having you down, verbalizing these dilemmas with someone else can be embarrassing or feel as though you're placing your burden on them. For most people, the easiest solution is just to bottle it up, thinking as though it will fade with time or that the mind will be able to work through it. However, although it may be scary, the best solution is sometimes to give a voice to these issues, to let them out, and to let others aid in the solution.

A problem shared is a problem halved.

There's a reason why almost every top business/organization in the world has a board of directors to make and debate key decisions. When issues come up, the power of multiple minds far exceeds the power of one, no matter how intelligent the one may be. The same rings true for personal problems. It's agonizing to hold something just beneath the surface while interacting with people who have no idea. You don't need to wear the problem on your sleeve of course, but telling those who you confide in is a powerful step towards letting yourself heal and work through whatever the issue may be.

Of course, it's easier said than done to be open about your struggles. Although I think as a society we're slowly moving towards a place where it's becoming more normalized, there's still a lot of work to be done when it comes to giving yourself the permission to be honest about what you're feeling. But the beauty is in the connection. Sharing your problems is a great way to build relationships and make them even stronger than they were before. And chances are, you'll feel relief just by finally letting it out. Bottled-up concerns can only stay unnoticed for so long.

Problems are human, and being reluctant to share is too. But it's time to change the narrative. We don't have to suffer more than we're supposed to. Letting it out can be the best way to let positivity in.

"A Single Seed" is my attempt to get out one idea every day that I've learned or accumulated over the years, with the hope that it may stick in someone else's memory bank as well. The idea may be related to fitness, business, life, or philosophy, but I think you'll find that many can change domains if you wish them to. With each seed planted, a new life awaits.
