Simple Beauty

in #powerhousecreatives5 years ago (edited)

The image below is of a few nasturtium flowers that I picked and put into an ancient bottle that was recovered from what was a very old dump that was uncovered when a new high way was being built here in Cape Town.

I have a few of these old bottles in different shapes and colours and just love to use them as small vases - somehow, I prefer these tiny vases into which I can pop wild flowers gathered on a walk, or a few garden flowers such as the nasturtium or lavender and violets.

It is the absolute simplicity of the arrangement that appeals to me and I prefer these to the often stiff florist arrangements that can be purchased.

A small vase takes up no space at all and can bring a happy, visual delight into a room - in some cases, a few sprigs of some herbs such as mint or rosemary look lovely when placed in the bathroom and give off a nice scent too.

If it's over here, I think the "vases" that we can make from bottles collected from dumps will either be plastic bottles or plastic bottles...there are everywhere! Not a good thing, and it's not like we have a lot of people reusing them properly like you...

But I think they'll still make pretty vases like yours :)

Mine are very old glass bottles.
