Understanding the Stupidity of Economic Austerity

The problem with wrapping your head around the Economic Austerity Paradigm is that economists tend to cloak their theories with intentionally vague language.

Additionally, complex systems are often broad stroked.

They glaze over it on purpose - especially if any cursory examination of it instantly erodes the validity of their proposals; schemes that are vehemently supported (in paternal fashion, of course) by the rich and powerful

To remedy this a bit, I recommend the following video by Mark Blyth.

With sardonic humor, he presents an ever clearing picture of today's economic austerity in such an entertaining way that you laugh AND get educated on the sly.

Professor Blyth is not your typical Ivy League teacher.

He is Scottish, sounds like Shrek, is obviously very intelligent, AND has a stand-up comedy background!

Imagine that?

So, without further adieu, here's the video.

For more history about the manipulative eonomic practices by the elite throughout history, I strongly suggest viewing more of Mark Blyth's videos.

Believing that school was too boring, he dropped out of High School early; only to earn an AA, BS and MBA in less than 4 years much later in life – while working full-time as a Navy/Marine Corps Medic.

In spite of a fear of heights and deep water, he performed high altitude, free-fall parachute jumps and hazardous diving ops in deep, open ocean water.

After 24 years of active duty, he retired in Asia.

Since then, he's been a full-time, single papa and actively pursuing his varied passions (Writing, Disruptive Technology, Computer Science and Cryptocurrency - plus more hobbies too boring or bizarre for most folk).

He lives on an island paradise with his teenage daughter, longtime girlfriend and three dogs.

I just hate politics and especially politicians :)

Good hidden education video.

Great subject, many thanks for the links to the videos.

Politics, corporations and bankers moving goal post with intent, thoroughly enjoyed first video.

Manipulating markets never ceases to amaze, more often than not causing more harm.

Living in a country that has extreme wealth to offer both above and beneath the soil the country as a whole has been raped and pillaged due to many factors mentioned in the video.

The Blyth video from Google was amazing. I may have to watch again... he was really speaking quickly about complex topics. I know a fair amount about the economic concepts he mentioned, but he didn't give me much time to think.

Yeah, he's like Shrek on meth! Lol!

Thanks for visiting and commenting.

Namaste, JaiChai

I can say so much about this topic. I live in Venezuela, our socialist regime has condemned our economy to the lowest level ever. Today, while i'm writing this, our salary worth less of 2$... and it's getting worst.

Capitalism it's not synonymous of consumerism, but definitely is benefited of it. If there's something i know for sure is that the money is better when is moving and flowing. We need to spend our money, work to win some more and then spend that too...

We only live once, and it's ok to save money, but the only reason to save money is to having the chance to spend it in something we really want. The whole point is to use it smartly.

Change must come soon or we will be at an end
