RE: Americans retiring to Vietnam in droves

Hey, that is pretty awesome that you found a nice place to move to. I am excited for you. My dad was stationed in Danang for some of the time that he was over there. He was in the navy and on a base for most of his time, but he actually got along really well with the locals during the war and in many cases enjoyed their company vs. the other soliders who were pretty horrible to them. I hope everything goes well for you and I wish you luck on this new adventure. It sounds like it is going to be a really awesome move for you.

well let's hope it turns out great. I would imagine that the area is a bit different than i was 40 years ago. If it is awesome i'll let you know but you need to know ahead of time they do not have basements that can flood over here.

Haha, that would probably be a welcome change! As long as we continue to have tornadoes I am always going to want a basement, I am just much more careful about where stuff is placed now! I think it would be really cool to visit Viet Nam one day. When I was a kid we had a Vietnamese family that went to our church. My dad had a pretty good friendship with the guy and their family came over to our house one evening to watch all the slides my dad had taken while he was over there.
