Y-Axis Shift

There is something I have been looking at in escalation into authoritarianism.

Something I call the y-axis shift, seen above in red. When Obama was president, I considered his policies led to the left empowering the state and started into a y-axis shift of the left upwards. My hopeful prediction was that the right would counter act that with a right wing shift downward. This of course was wishful thinking as a significant percentage of the right y-axis shifted upwards in escalation.

It’s rare and takes time to see x-axis shifts, but the y-axis shifts appear to happen rapidly.
