ANXIETY: SNAP OUT OF IT

Easier said than done.
Some people do not understand anxiety and in their willingness to help do not realise that they are making things worse.

So you get things said like:
Come on, what’s the worst that can happen
Surely, you’re not afraid of.............
I’m here so you’ll be OK

They may be trying to help but it can be counterproductive so when you are able, it’s best to explain how you feel during anxiety or panic attacks. You may know what doesn’t help but does not know what helps as in that moment little or nothing seems to help. But you can formulate a plan of action. You can’t just snap out of it, but you can find mechanisms to help you cope

FOR ANXIETY:

You can use positive thinking. Have positive affirmations and repeat them. E.g “I feel really good today”

look up a help line and keep the number handy so you can phone when you are feeling anxious as it helps to talk about it with someone

Go for a walk.

Its best to go at a time when there aren’t too many people around

Learn breathing techniques to use to help you to cope better
