Red Bull Air Race Porto 2017

We took the kids to the Friday practice sessions when the Red Bull Air Race was in town.

I have never seen the races, not even on TV (I don’t watch much TV anyway) so it was interesting to see how it was all set up.

In the morning we spent a bit of time at the top of the hill by the bridge, sitting on a grassy bank and watching the pilots do their thing.

In the afternoon we went down, across the bridge and spent some time at the river’s edge watching the planes go by.

It ended up being quite a hot day and after a while the kids were getting tired and we were all getting absolutely roasted, so we went back to the restaurants and grabbed some food, before taking the metro back home again.

The planes seemed to each have a distinctive sound, with some sounding like they were running at a much higher speed than others.
