I have never ever seen anything like it! Only in a fairy-tale book! Sound like a place I would like to visit one day!
There so many awesome spots like this in Sintra ... I think if you go and visit you need more than just one day. Many come as day-trippers from Lisbon.

Amazing design in raw stone, stood the test of time. Moss and ferns growing onto the rocks even makes the buildings look impressive from ageing @for91days

And well worth a visit! Sintra is a beautiful spot not too far from Lisbon.

No but I can imagine that is was some sort of AC for them in the summer time :)
