— My Portraitcontest Entry #2 For Week #116

Again, this is a photo I took of @silver.art while we were on a vacation.

In the same region that I mentioned that I was organizing workshops in. These waters were near the town of Achtopol, though, not Sinemorets. But it's only 8 kilometers by car so we usually visit that area, too. Also, it has a beautiful and simple small lighthouse on a rock amidst the waves.

Aperture F 5.6, Shutter Speed 1/250 sec., ISO 1000, Focal Length 31 mm.

This shot was a lot more difficult than setting those parameters, though. First, I had to determine them before packing my camera inside a waterproof bag. Because the sleeves of the bag were not convenient enough for me to be able to manipulate the controlling buttons and wheels of the camera. Or maybe the camera was too big. The old models of the Canon EOS x0 series were at least one centimeter larger than the new ones in each of their dimensions.

Then there's the rocking of the waves, the getting dark issue, and hence all the trouble with using autofocus underwater. Manual focus was out of the question since it would require fine manipulation and the soft case (the bag) would not allow it. A lot of moments were simply not captured. This one was.

And I also had to somehow breathe and swim while taking the shot. With my head held in a position that it doesn't take during normal swimming. So...a lot of seawater went up my nostrils. And further.

The usual ;)

This is my entry #2 for the Portraitcontest challenge. Rules in the link. The topic this week is again Free.

Have a happy weekend, everyone!

I think it looks nice, but underwater shooting is so difficult, especially in a bag.

Stunning shot! Love how you captured the surface of the water within it!
