Steemit Portrait Contest – Week #60 - THE KALI (KILLER OF DEMONS)

India is a developed country according to customs and tradition. This country is a pure confluence of language and culture. People who believe in Hindu religion have a deep faith in the gods and goddesses, and because of their faith, people respect the statues set in the temples. In ancient times, people remember the stories mentioned in the ancient scriptures by playing plays. Even today, ancient traditions are remembered by playing Ramleela, Jagran and Kirtan in the country.

This photo is from a kirtan held in my relative's home. Defining kirtan will be a bit difficult for me but I try it.
Kirtan: The word is derived from Sanskrit language, which means "narrating, reciting, telling, describing" of an idea or story. It also refers to a genre of religious performance arts, connoting a musical form of narration or shared recitation, particularly of spiritual or religious ideas. It also displays a style of religious arts, in which the story is shown by music or drama.

In Kirtan there are idols of Hindu deities and goddesses, first organizer offers food to deities and goddesses and then further process starts. After completing the aarti (Prayer) artist performs and show the story from vedic kal. In the end, all the visitors take prasad (Food) and received God's blessings.

This photo belongs to Hindu Goddess Kali. The artist has tried to show us, how at one time Kali had lost his temper for killing demons, then Lord Shiva had to lie in her way to stop her. And when she landed her feet on Shiva's chest then she realized that she did a mistake. So this photo is showing the expression of that foot.
