Day 55 | Portrait finished!
Finally finished a portrait I was working on for one of my band members, she's so cute and is a kick ass flute player!
This was 13x13 inches, so to save time, I used graphite powder and a brush to rub on a grey tone everywhere.
At first I was worried it was going to look terrible! (This was my first time using graphite powder) and it was so patchy and gross looking!
But after using a blender to smooth everything out, I began to use a gum erase to bring back some of the white paper. And boom! I got a really cool bird effect by accident, which was worth all the struggle!
Then it was deepening my black spots. For this I used a very small amount of water, and brushed on the graphite powder, which made almost black. This was super tricky to blend into the graphite strokes, but it was certainly a fast method.
Once I was finished with my graphite, I used a fixative spray to make sure the graphite doesn't smear around anymore. This makes erasing almost impossible, but I was pretty happy with what I had.
After that, it was just the glitter, a request from my fairy commissioner :D
For this I just used regular glitter from wallmart. And a sponge from the dollar store.
I didn't want the gel to go onto the paper, so what I did was put a little of the glitter onto the edge of a sponge, and then smear it in, until the gel had been absorbed and only the glitter stayed on the surface of the sponge. Then I just lightly dabbed the sponge where I wanted it :D
And walah! I had the perfect bedazzled portrait, my fairy flute player was very happy!
Thanks for reading along!
If you've any questions or requests, drop a comment :D
This is beautiful @hanajones :))
Thank you ! ^^
You're welcome :))
so beautiful portraits! Great job! I love to use graphite, blender and gum eraser for my sketches, but I never try to put the glitter on the draw, it's a very interesting effect!!!
Haha me neither, when she asked i was like, "Glitter... are you sure?" I'm happy she asked, because now I'm obsessed with it :D
I can understand you! I will try to use the glitters on one of my animals sketch, I'm curious about the result =D
Ooo please do! I'd love to see it!
Very nice!
Ty!
Well done!
Thanks @Macksby :D
