TIL: THE FIRST PORN EVER MADE WAS IN 1896 (nothing explicit!)

Today I learned…

The first pornographic movie was made in 1896… It was produced by Eugène Pirou and directed by Albert Kirchner, two Frenchmen. It starred Louise Willy performing a striptease, in the bathroom (kinky). The film was named Le Coucher de la Mariée.., and it was only 7 minutes long and had no sound.

Also that same year, a film named Fatima's Coochee-Coochee Dance.., was shot at Thomas Edison's studio featuring a famous Belly Dancer named Fatima gyrating her pelvis for Edison and became the first film ever censored. The porn industry wasted no time -- I mean, the first motion pictures were made in the 1890's…


But the "hardcore porn..," was soon to follow… From 1908 -1912 things were getting a little more explicit… There was another French film named A L’Ecu d’Or ou la bonne auberge.., about a soldier having a "rendezvous" with a woman at an inn…

And then in 1910 a German movie, by the name -- Am Abend got even more explicit… Featuring a a woman masturbating, havimg sex (penetration), fellatio.., and even anal sex. That was basically the first HARDCORE porn ever made...

By the 1920's this kind of "film-making" was looked down upon and being policed… Just being in possession of such material could get you arrested. But then jump to the 1960's porn was on the rise… Being made and produced by both men and women. And in 1n 1969 Denmark removed all censorship laws on the books.., that set off a slew of all kinds of "hardcore" pornography… It would be made in Denmark (legally) and shipped all over the world, to be shown in underground type of venues and even porn booths.

And by 1970's America jumped on board… While still not main stream, these kinds of films were better tolerated… And would produce such "films' as Mona the Virgin Nymph, Flesh Gordon and even an X-rated musical -- Alice in Wonderland. The production and general "success" of these lead to the opening of the first adult movie theaters in the United States and abroad...

In the 1980's with invention of the VHS tape the porn business went through the roof.., producing actual stars of the industry… Ginger Lynnn, Traci Lords, Ron Jeremy and John Holmes. With it being so cheap to shoot a porn movie on VHS.., the industry boomed… *And today you can stream porn from your computer, or order it on your TV… *

So, today I learned...

Who would have thought, this all started over 100 years ago, in 1896.., with a woman stripping and then bathing in a shower, while some creep looked on… And even though it seems bigger than ever, it is actually shrinking… With so much access, it is much less profitable. And we all know -- it's all about the money!

I myself am not huge watcher of porn.., but am into the history of film. And, while living in Los Angeles.., my good friend married a stripper -- I mean exotic dancer (she would kill me if she heard me call her a stripper.., at the Exotic Dancer Awards in Las Vegas -- I was the best man and some the bridesmaids were porn stars… They were there to attend the AVN Awards (Adult Video News) the following week. They had so much fun at the wedding.., we all got invited to come back the following week as their guests to the AVN Awards... And they actually did a very nice presentation on the history of porn…
