Power of Possitivity - P.O.P Contest #25: A Positive Mindset and Attitude
The world is full of cruelty; government is corrupt; people are back-stabbers, the traffic is messed up; parents nag; guys are heart breakers; girls are too demanding; my boss is annoying; the economy is bad; my employees are too inefficient... and so on.
People, both rich and poor, are faced with various challenges, of course some greater than others. Everyone can complain about what he is facing, but some people tend to transfer the aggression of their predicaments to people around them. For example, a lady who has experienced a number of heart breaks may just settle in her heart that all men are the same and so, treat them all with disdain.
While few people know how to adequately control their anger or frustrations, some are careless at managing it. They dispense their anger or displeasure on other people or even on their utensils or appliances.
There are bosses who treat their employees or subordinates as beggars, parents or guardians who treat their wards as burdens, and so on. I have worked with abusive bosses, who always criticize employees' actions. I also have experience with an aggressive one. These people are either frustrated by situations of things or they think such an approach works well on people, but the truth is that the more you hear that you are terrible at something, the more you will keep getting worse at it. Though you make efforts to do better, you get frustrated every time you hear such dehumanizing words. Some people have been driven into depression because of people's comments about them.
In All These, Refuse to be a Victim
It is necessary for you not to always judge yourself based on people's assessment, but from a self evaluation. Do not be a victim of people's frustration.
- Do not agree that you are inferior
- Tell yourself you can do things better
- In a situation where you can, stay away from abusive people or those who perpetually condemn you.
- Where you cannot stay away, always encourage yourself
- Make conscious efforts to do things better, promptly and as instructed.
- Accept your mistake when you make one.
- No matter what, do not allow any negative thoughts. You are better than that.
Refuse Also to be A Culprit
Be mindful of what you say to people. Let your words encourage, rather than condemn people.
- Nobody likes to make mistakes. Therefore, do not condemn people when they do. Rather, point it out to them and tell them a better way of doing it next time.
- Motivate employees to do better on their job, rather than abuse them.
- Listen to other people's views, even if you will not use their ideas.
- Learn to deal with your frustration. Read books on temperament and anger management.
Everyone deserves self confidence, everyone deserves to be happy and to be relevant. Do not make people feel contrary to this and NEVER let anyone make you feel lesser than who you are or lesser than what you can do. maintain a positive mindset about yourself and exhibit a positive attitude to others.
