Home

Though often taken for granted, home is not just a word.
Sometimes it’s the sweetest thing your ears have ever heard.
Like when you are a soldier and stationed over the sea
and you never know when or if at home next time you’ll be.

While they are there they miss someone, a parent or a wife.
They want to be there with them, not fearing for their life.
Some people say that with their home they don’t want any part.
But a soldier warmly holds that word so closely to their heart.

Fighting a war on a battlefield, not exactly the best place to be.
Unfortunately, though, that’s what it takes, to keep us all so free.
If you want to know when a soldier just breaks down and cries.
It’s when they finally again see their home with their own eyes.
