Full Steem Ahead!

It has been quite the winter, sort of a "not winter." This time last year we were under about 4 feet of snow.
This is my front door, we had to dig our way out one morning!

This year we got virtually no winter, at least not yet... The fruit trees are getting ready to bloom, all the trees are putting out their new wood, it is not really good. Could be a VERY bad year for fruit around here, however for MY comfort, it has been delightful. The wind can just HOWL here, even that has been pretty calm this winter. (We joke that you never hear anyone complain about the wind on Mesa. That is because the wind is howling so loudly you can't hear anything anyone says...)

We are almost at the 45th parallel, meaning our days get down to about 9 hours long around the solstice. That is a lot of dark and winter can just be a bit depressing. I have been in the habit of hunkering down and watching youtubes and playing words games wrapped in blankets and with hot coffee at hand from about mid-November to early March. I called it semi-hibernating, but it was not good for my back, or spirits.

This winter has been different in that respect also. I sit down with my coffee and surf a bit, but then I get OFF MY BUTT and go do something so I can make a steemit post about it. 😁 The time I once spent on word games is now spent blogging, which is a more fitting use for words. They are sacred, in my opinion. Just playing games with them is sort of beneath their station!

I hardly get on facebook any more, but I am having REAL interactions with people on steemit instead. A handful of real world friends have gotten involved, and we are building a little steemit enclave here in Idaho! It has been so much fun, and we are getting PAID?!! Say WHAT?!! It also got us all into cryptocurrency, who knows how that may bless us before all is said and done?

This winter has been the easiest I have experienced in at least a decade, and it is not just about the weather. Having this opportunity to make friends all over the world, to be my goofy self and have people laugh with me, to put my heart on my sleeve and have people cry with me... The simple every day burdens of life can grind us down over time, this gift in my "midlife" years has brought back a bit of youthful vigor! You folks added life to my years, and probably years to my life. I would like to thank every individual who has been so kind and helpful, but I don't think I could list them all, so please accept this heart-felt
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE ON STEEMIT!
HERE'S TO YOU!!!

Thank you sweetie! BIG HUGS my friend!

our laughter will make a change of situation sir

Laughter is wonderful, healing medicine, for sure!

It sounds like you have been suffering with the winter blues a bit, Never mind spring is around the corner you will soon see the silver linings on the clouds again.

Wow! Great pic! Truly, this winter has been the least "blue" one I have had in many, many years. People LIKE YOU brighten my every day!

You too fishy! I cant wait for spring either, It's just round the corner.

You are so right! Steemit is an awesome place. Where else can you have a real connection with folks from all over the world? And look what we are learning and sharing too. It is totlly awesome, my friend!

I am getting a small band of "real world" friends on here too, and that adds another dimension to the possibilities of steemit. I can imagine a day when some of the local merchants accept SBD for goods and services... future so bright, we're going to need steemit-shades!

I love it! Steem-shades!

Oh man yea winter weather is doing its thang I remember in arkansas we had some snow like that once and I used the snow to keep my beer cold right outside the door. Thinking positive be well and stay warm. @fishyculture

That was quite the snowstorm you had there!

Don't mean to drain the good-feelings vibe, but your story shows why global high-speed Internet will be a huge game-changer for rural real estate. Hell: if I had the knack, I could move to the proverbial cabin in the woods and eke out a living through Steemit! All that's missing is high-speed Internet....

The real world is still there - chop wood, carry water, steemit. :)

Oh yes, and that's why I find the possibility fascinating. Somewhere in the belly of the Internet, there's a movement called "archaeo-futurism" which imagines a future of high-tech feudalism.

The vision I sketched out is a benign kind of archaeo-futurism: a bracing lifestyle or rural self-sufficiency combined with earning a living through twenty-first-century cryptocurrency.

Ya have to laugh when some trendy calls you 'retrograde' six moths before enthusing about this brand-spanking-new thingie called cryptocurrency!

Yeah, I can see that future happening... Sort of reminds me of the last Star Trek series where "latinum" was the money, I keep waiting for that ICO lol!

How's this for a coincidence: I just finished reading a Steemit review of a Cory Doctorow book that explores this theme.

"Walkaway" by Cory Doctorow - A Science Fiction Book Review.

Doctorow's take is essentially "urban," but he's tapped into the spirit I outlined.
