To The farthest and yet most beautiful piece of my heart. P. O. P Contest #19

First things first - I love you, okay? These things are much better off said in person and as much as I crave to say it in the flesh, it'll have to be like this for a while. And in any case, regardless of whether I say it by Skype, text, messenger pigeon, whatever, I will love you the same. Intensity is thy name, mi amor, and distance shan't change anything.

But it sure does hurt.

Every night, I hug a pillow and sleep, pretending it's you. I listen to your favourite songs, imagining your face light up as your favourite parts come on and the notion that it makes you brim with gaiety makes these songs my favourites too. I see my friends with their significant others (good ol’ PDA, huh?), watch those stupidly cliché romantic flicks and I just miss you so much.

They say abstinence makes the heart grow stronger, and this is precisely why. As much as I yearn for a hand to steady mine, as much as I itch to be shrouded in warm hugs and showered
with kisses, I will wait for you. The thought that one day the miles will shrink and our hearts will touch, gives me the strength I need to keep me going. The thought that the teeth-gritting will pay off and we will have the most blissful future together keeps my aching heart filled with hope.

It's not often we meet people we connect with so deeply, let alone are willing to be in a long distance relationship with. It's like you're another me and the more I fall in love with you, the more I fall in love with myself. You uplift me from so far, and I wouldn't wanna lose that for the world. Robert Frost wrote about how he's at a crossroads and doesn't know which path to take; I'm just waiting for our paths to merge, for our worlds to collide, to live in a place where I need
only walk a few mere steps to plant a kiss on your cheek and look straight into your resplendent eyes whilst I tell you how much you mean to me.
