How I was contacted by a Ponzi Website

Few weeks ago, I got a Direct Message (DM) on Twitter to promote a ponzi scheme. The owner of the scheme saw I was a media promoter and decided to be straightforward with me, so he just said it was ponzi related. I was surprise by his statement, but I didn't for a minute think about it.

In times past, I fell for a ponzi scheme. Later, I became well informed of their tactics and decided to avoid anything relating to ponzi. So promoting it so that more people would fall for it looks wrong to me. That was the reason I did not even think about it. I just snubbed the message after he said it was ponzi related. The ponzi website owner, contacted me with his personal and ponzi twitter accounts. He still did not rest, so I muted the account and later blocked him.

I think it will be right for me to share the message he sent, so everyone will be aware of the website. I have been postponing when I would write about this, I am really glad I have the time to do so now.

The ponzi claims to be a cryptocurrency called "Megagold", where investors can put a lot of money before it is listed on exchanges. The website which was recently launched was what they requested promotion for. Many people do not really know much about cryptocurrencies, because they hear bitcoin is appreciating, they believe they can invest in smaller coins that are advertised, not knowing some may be ponzis.

It is advisable to do a research, before investing in any cryptocurrency at all. Because the number of scammers is increasing, we need to be alert all the time. It is better not to take risk investing in such websites, because most times we end up hearing the same story of how it ended up crashing.

In this media job, sometimes we get quite a number of odd requests. There was a time I was asked if I could promote a porn website. Personally, I don't like promoting something I don't like or something that can ruin my media name. There is a Nigerian pidgin proverb here that says,

Food make you nor dey chop, dem nor dey use mouth share am

What does this mean? It means that activities that you would not want for yourself, it is better not to get involved at all.
