The Russian Army used this method in the 2nd World War against the German Wehrmacht. They conditioned dogs in the sense that they got their food under a tractor or tank with the engine running. Than they half starved the dog while being shipped to the front line. When the Germans attacked with tanks they released the dogs into their direction. Naturally the dog would expect to find food under the German tanks. Bad idea for the German tanks and unfortunately for the dog, on the back of the dog was placed a anti-tank mine...
