I think its just the horseshoe effect again. When you go so far in any direction you end up coming back to the center like circumnavigating the globe. You will eventually get ideologies that promote freedom and expect the people to stand in line with the leader/leaders positions, even if they aren’t pure anymore or don’t leave room for different opinions. This is why I call myself “The Radical Centrist” aka @wwamd. My views have changed a lot over time and a little recently but everyone else seems to have gone to the extremes. Stay true to yourself because of you start to become a dogmatic patriot than you might as well live in a theocratic monarchy like the one they criticize so often.
