Voting Buddies
New assignment for anti-Trump and anti-Clinton voters: instead of throwing away your vote supporting someone you hate to stop someone you hate more, find a friend on the other side. Promise that you won't vote for your second most hated candidate if your friend agrees not to vote for his second most hated, and each support your preferred third party instead.
As a bonus, this requires actually talking to and trusting someone you don't agree with politically...
It's an interesting thought exercise, so +1. But...
Realistically, I'm afraid we're stuck with a two party system. As we've seen with the leaked DNC emails, the political institution is rather strong-minded, and of course has a lot of power. Bernie Sanders never had a chance, and the powers that be wouldn't give a three-party system a chance either.
Even if no third party candidate wins, I think this approach would be far more constructive than splitting the anti-votes between the two major parties. At least it gives people an excuse to consider what they actually want rather than voting out of pure fear.
