RE: Saudi Desperation Clarifies Battle Lines

in #politics7 years ago

It sounds like the Saudis are in a real tight situation, and time is only going to tighten it on them. Once they CAN'T maintain the peg, will that mean the end of the Petro$ and the end of a reason for US support? If that is the case, then we probably will be throwing them a few sticks to help hold the vise open.

Turkey has a PR problem in the US, only the military/deep state people won't say good riddance when they leave NATO. My inner isolationist heart begs for our bases in Turkey to be closed.

Looking at NATO, It looks like the US, UK and Turkey are the only countries with a credible military. My inner isolationist says that we start charging the remaining countries for the upkeep for us keeping our troops on the other side of the globe. The western European countries had enough money that they could properly help us, but they decided to live off of Uncle Sam, It's time for them to pay up, or be left defenceless. The eastern countries, I don't know what is best for them, but I suspect that their biggest danger is US deep state agents.

At present, NATO has 29 members. In 1949, there were 12 founding members of the Alliance: Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, the United Kingdom and the United States. The other member countries are: Greece and Turkey (1952), Germany (1955), Spain (1982), the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland (1999), Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia (2004), Albania and Croatia (2009), and Montenegro (2017).

Turkey has the 2nd largest military in NATO and that's why their sliding into the orbit of the SCO countries is so important. The Saudis will not be allowed to kill their peg. Qatar, on the other hand, will and very soon.

They will fight this for a little while but once they see that the resolve is similar to that which went after the Ruble in 2014, they'll stop defending it and start accepting Euros/Yuan/etc. for their gas.

Why do you think they pledged to invest in American Airlines and buy some jets, to smooth over the hard feelings with Trump over their next logical course of action.
