The Political Spectrum

When people engage in political discussions, it is often in an antagonistic context of left and right.  The left is categorized as liberal while the right are called conservatives.  When one considers that the word liberal is synonymous with generosity, and the word conservative applies to responsibility, these terms tell an observer nothing in light of the fact that anyone can possess these qualities despite their political affiliation.  But more importantly, it doesn't tell us what exactly is the thing that separates the left from the right.

In the field of science, there is something called the electromagnetic spectrum, which is a graph that classifies the different waves that are produced by the sun.  These waves vary in frequency.  The lower frequencies are on the left, and they increase as you move to the right.  In the center of this spectrum is that which we can see with our eyes as visible light.  With that, the question that needs to be addressed is:  What would a political spectrum classify?  That answer would be authority.  A definition of government is, the exercising of authority.

In order to establish what it is that separates the left from the right in this spectrum, we must look at the word law, as it is connected with the word authority.  Law is defined as that which is laid, set or fixed.  True law is what is.  It is something that is discovered, and not legislated, such as the laws of motion.  When people assume the authorization to legislate law, it is necessary for those laws to be enforced through some type of apparatus such as a legal system with its law enforcement officers, attorneys, and judges because such laws have no inherent power.

With that, it can be seen that it is the use of force that separates the left from the right in the political spectrum, and not nebulous terms like liberal and conservative.  One direction would represent a greater use of force than the other.  For the sake of demonstration, the right will represent the absence of force simply because true righteousness is in agreement with true law, and does not require the use of force to accomplish its ends.

In this context, every political party, and movement that relies on the institutions of government and legality to force people to accept their agendas, and points of view are indeed left wing.  In America, this would include both the Democrats and Republicans, as many of their Presidential candidates have utilized executive orders, which is a form of force.  Fortunately, there is a political party in America whose founding principle is to avoid the use of force, and that is the Libertarian party.  This is not to say that every Libertarian lives up to that principle, but that is another subject.

The purpose in writing this is not to try to convince anyone to adopt any particular political position because people are going to do that which is based on who they are, regardless of the facts.  Instead, it is to serve as a mirror to show the reader who they are so that they might understand the nature of the reaping that comes out of who they are.  In past generations, the universe has provided a degree of intercession to prevent people from reaping the full results of their character as a result of their ignorance.  I am convinced that time has now passed, and that those who are forceful will be forceful still, and that those who are righteous will be righteous still.  The good news is: you are loved regardless.
