Trump's administration created family separation policy, but Trump blames Democrats for it

in #politics6 years ago (edited)

President Donald Trump on Monday once again wrongly blamed Democrats for his administration's migrant family separation policy one that he could end whenever he chooses. Faced with mounting condemnation of the practice, the president dodged responsibility for splitting up families who have crossed U.S. borders illegally.

My thoughts on this news

This has been the Republican strategy the entire time Obama was in office, blame the Democrats for everything, does not matter if it is true or not. This is exactly what Trump is doing, he somehow thinks it is the fault of the Democrats that migrant children are getting separated from their parents. When it is his administration who started this policy in April when they prosecute immigrants from crossing the border they take their children away from them and lock them up in these detention centers. They lock these kids up in cages and some of them are too young to even understand what is going on. Trump and his administration are committing child abuse...

Sort:

"It wasn't the Democrats" yet you use a picture well known to have been taken during the Obama administration. Have a look at the date, genius.

There have always been detention centers for children, in the past they have been only used for children under the age of 18 who cross the border without any parents or guardians. In April the Trump administration started taking children from parents who cross the border and locking them up in these detention centers.

I tried to use a new picture so I only looked for pictures taken within the last week but I guess someone reused that picture and reuploaded it within the last week, so here is a new pic for you...

That picture is also from a set taken in 2014.

Keep trying. And if you really think this exact same thing didn't happen under Obama, explain this protest:

Crossing the border illegally is a crime. Criminals are punished by law. What would you have us do with the children that are accompanying with those criminals? Shove them back over the border and wish them luck?

You, sir, are spreading lies.

I am not spreading lies, Jeff Sessions already spoke on television about this and stated that this policy was started in April. Children were never separated from their parents before April. I do no agree with Obama's immigration policies either, he actually deported more people than Bush did before him, but he never separated children from their families, the detention centers during the Obama administration allowed families to stay in them together, here is an article where this picture was used

They never separated families, this is a new policy under Trump, I think you are being misinformed

"this is a new policy under Trump". More lies.

Read the law yourself: https://www.congress.gov/bill/107th-congress/house-bill/5005/titles

The law you just posted proves my point, like I said detention centers for children have always existed, look at the law, see where it says "unaccompanied alien child" that means children who have crossed the border without a parent or guardian are taken to these detention centers. What the Trump administration is doing is taking children who have crossed the border with a parent or guardian, taken those children away from them and locking them up in these detention centers, this was not a policy before Trump. Before Trump families were kept together until a court decided what to do with them.

Ahem, read part (ii) again. If a parent is a arrested while accompanying a child - what does that child become?

UNACCOMPANIED.

Therefore they go to a detention center because there is no legal guardian available to care for them. Deductive reasoning isn't really your strong point is it...

LOL, ok, you can read between the lines if it makes you feel better.

But this was not done prior to April when Trump started his zero tolerance policy
