To US government is providing more military aid to the Ukraine

in #politics7 years ago

The USA has already provided over $750 million worth of military aid to the Ukraine and now it is sending them Javelin missiles which cost $78,000 per missile. All paid for by the American tax payers.

The US government currently spends about $600 billion per year on the Department of Defense, part of that funding is given away as free military aid/weapons to other countries. The only winners in the game of war are the corporations who create these weapons of war and they are paid by the US government with your tax dollars.

I don't know about that... I agree that the US has no business in Ukraine, if that is what you believe, but that the US doesn't benefit from being the most powerful nation on the planet? Being on Steemit is really moderating (what I thought were) my Libertarian instincts.

Yes, I believe the US should not be involved in any military conflicts anywhere unless they are attacked first. The only people that benefit from a large US military are the corporations which create the products that the military uses and the politicians who take funding/bribes from those corporations. When the politicians get those funds/bribes they make sure to pass laws so the Dept of Def keeps getting that money every year.

There are currently over 800 US military bases all around the world, all paid for with tax dollars, the average American has no benefit from a military that size. There is no need for it, American tax payers keep paying and they have no benefit from it. The average American has no benefit from the US government giving away military equipment they paid for to foreign countries. They are creating a system of perpetual warfare.

Happy New Year! :)

Maybe.
Or maybe they are demanding that the fractious, violent and unbounded nations of this world bend their knee to the US merchant republic and there is now more freedom and democracy in this world than at any point in history because of this imperialistic sensibility of first the English and now the Americans.
Happy New Year to you as well!

I agree with most of that except "there is now more freedom and democracy in this world than at any point in history". Currently on a global scale we have the highest wealth inequality in economic history, more than half of the earth's population is basically poor and most of the earth's wealth is held by a small minority of very wealthy people. There is nothing democratic about that, the wealthy run this world and control the governments of many countries.

All you have to do is follow the money, the US military industrial complex is all about money, the corporations who get pieces of that $600 billion the DoD gets every year don't care about who buys their weapons of war, that is why the US government sells their weapons to foreign countries all the time. They do not care about peace because war = $$$.

They have created an economy of perpetual warfare and in order for them to be able to keep spending $600 billion per year, the weapons/equipment have to continue being used somewhere...

I have seen with my own eyes that the USA arming the Ukraine leads to the deaths of civilians. I am a independent journalist that has been covering the Ukraine War since the Referendum in Crimea and the ones in Donbass. I see Ukraine shelling civ areas on almost a daily bassis. The people here just want to be left alone and have the right to self determination. Upvoted and Resteemed
