Republicans have removed all doubt: When it comes to the federal deficit, the problem is Medicare and Social Security — not their own tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy. Fresh off the news that the deficit is increasing under President Donald Trump, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told Bloomberg News that Congress should target Social Security and Medicare for cuts to address the growing federal debt.

My thoughts on this issue
It is obvious now that Trump's tax cuts have not worked, they have mostly benefited the rich like the majority of economists said they would. So the debt and deficit has gone up and it is because the US government is not taking in as much revenue since the Republicans let the richest Americans get even richer by paying less taxes. Now Mitch McConnell is blaming this increase in debt and deficit on Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. Here is a video of him saying how those programs need to be cut.
Basically what he is saying is the US Government needs to take more money away from the poorest Americans who need these government programs. So the richest Americans can have their tax cuts. The Republicans are robbing the poor to give to the rich.
Basically gut every social safety net until everyone has to work for Amazon hive mines.
Pretty much, except in the future Amazon hives will mostly use robot labor and not human labor, along with the majority of the job market.
The people in charge are sociopaths who have no clue how the economy works or they do and simply want the US government to be an authoritarian regime with a high level of wealth inequality. If these policies continue they will literally turn the the USA into Hunger Games the movie.
