Republicans Are Once Again Trying to Destroy Democracy by Eliminating Sunday Voting in Georgia

Georgia Republicans are advancing a bill through the state legislature that will eliminate Sunday voting and cutting the hours that polls are open in Atlanta. The bill, SB 363, would force polls in the majority African American city of Atlanta to close an hour earlier and would eliminate early voting on the Sunday before Election Day.

My Thoughts On This News

The Republicans do not want America to be a democracy, they want an authoritarian government. Why else would they be making it more difficult for Americans to vote, they don't care what the majority of Americans want. We should have national voting holidays in this country instead we have government officials that make it more and more difficult for people to vote. Imagine if he had a day off or even two days off from work every time there is an election to encourage people to go vote, maybe even create a tax write off for everyone who voted. That is what real democracy is, when everyone is involved in the decisions of how the laws/rules of our society are shaped by our elected officials. Not government officials who reduce voting hours because they don't want to give voters enough time to go cast their vote...
