Both parties are corrupt for sure, I think the Repubs are more corrupt in my opinion, but most politicians in both parties are in it just for the money. I have read some theories by economists that claim capitalism eventually leads to fascism. It does make sense since capitalism is basically a self destructing economy, eventually all your left with is a minority of rich and majority of poor people. So the rich have to take over the government and create a fascist government in order to keep the poor from taking back their wealth...
The One Party seems to have been preparing for and wanting domestic conflict. If a civil war situation arose, as they control the military, police, and specifically "the NRA member minds" (which makes it different than the collapse of the Soviet Union), they'd be able to do more rapid Domestic Cleansing than is already taking place. If they can't manage to induce civil war/rebellion, they can gradually ramp up the institution destruction more, making the unwanted essentially domestic refugees, and with no help, The Few alter the demographics the way they want and get a cleaned slate to work with.
