El Paso congressman and Senate hopeful Beto O'Rourke visits immigrant detention center

in #politics6 years ago

El Paso congressman and Senate hopeful Beto O'Rourke traveled to Texas' border on Tuesday to witness firsthand the separation of families under the Trump administration. In a video detailing his day in McAllen, O'Rourke said he met with a mother and her 7-year-old daughter in custody at one of the nation's busiest border patrol stations. "Within the next, perhaps, 24 hours they were going to be separated and I don't know that [the] mother and her child knew that at the time," O'Rourke said. According to O'Rourke, the duo traveled 2,000 miles from Honduras before turning themselves in to a border patrol agent.

My thoughts on this news

This is horrible what the Trump administration is doing to people crossing the border. This is extremely unconstitutional, according to US law they are not even allowed to lock people up for crossing the border, now they are purposely separating children from their parents. At most all they can do is either not allow them to cross or deport them back across the border. This is all about money and the prison industrial complex, the private prisons that are running these operations are all getting paid by the government to lock these people up. All paid for by the US tax payers. This will not solve any of the economic problems the USA has, it will just increase the debt more and enrich private corporations more. Remember when some people were complaining how Obama was going to start FEMA Camps and start locking people up, well Trump is doing it right now...
