Climate change could cause beer shortage!

in #politics6 years ago

Bad news, beer lovers: Climate change doesn't just cause rising sea levels, stronger hurricanes and more intense wildfires - it could also disrupt the global beer supply, causing severe shortages.
That's because increasingly severe and widespread droughts and heat could trigger a worldwide decline in yields of barley, beer's main ingredient.

My thoughts on this news

Basically this study looks at the global barley supply, which is the main ingredient in beer, and shows how it may be effected by climate change in the coming years. They looked at the regions on earth where barley is grown and based on current climate projections, their study shows that barley supply on earth could decline from 3% to 17% due to droughts and temperature increases. Because of this, beer prices could increase anywhere from 15% to 100% depending on which country you live in and it's beer consumption. So get ready for more expensive beer and food prices overall as global temperatures continue to increase.

Sort:

So was this study issued before the IPCC 'Summary for Policy Makers' or did it emerge after the science had been created to support the political ideology, like the rest of the IPCC's so called scientific evidence? Still no mention of the Sun I see. Still if 0.0004% of the Earth's atmosphere is driving climate change which has nothing at all to do with the solar systems primary energy source I guess we'll just have to take the politicians word for it and pay more for energy, give up freedom of movement, get rid of private ownership and stay away from the countryside.
